New Parks Library, Leicester

New Parks Library Leicester

Project Value: £1.2m

New Parks Centre Library is a £1.5 million Big Lottery and City Council funded project which will make a real difference to the lives of local people.

The Centre is sited on Aikman Avenue, in the heart of the community next to shops, local housing office and bus stops. The new building includes:

  • A modern library with new books

  • A community café

  • FREE computer & internet access

  • Training kitchen

  • ICT training room

  • Flexible community space

  • Sound and film recording room

T.A.D. were brought into the project alongside the design and build contractor, Interserve, following our successful project delivery at Ranby. T.A.D.'s involvement started at the end of Stage C, with the original design having been significantly reduced already, but still over budget.

T.A.D. worked with Interserve to come up with some inovative solutions to reduce the cost, such as adopting a more engineered approach to fire safety that reduced the need for staircases and altering the external aesthetic slightly to reduce the overall cost.

Having brought the project back within budget we were able to submit a new planning application for the scheme and provide the production finromation for the contractor, ultimately delivering the project on time and on budget.
