T.A.D. are an RIBA Chartered Architectural Practice SME, based in Sheffield, working in the East Midlands and Yorkshire across a number of sectors providing a range of Professional Services to the construction and building maintenance industries.

The small and friendly team at T.A.D. operate from our office in the Woodseats suburb of Sheffield. Located near to plenty of local facilities, free parking and surrounded by nature the office is a relaxed and pleasant place to work. We encourage a close working team collaboration within the office to share responsibility and meet the occasional challenging timescales for the delivery of services.

Job Vacancy

We are looking to file a vacancy for the Book Keeper / Accounts Manager role, following the retirement of a long-standing member of team. Initially the Duties and Responsibilities would be as set out in the Job Description, but the right candidate will find there are numerous opportunities to expand the role as the needs of the business dictate.

Job Summary

The Book Keeper / Accounts Manager is responsible for the maintenance of all accounts records, and day to day financial transactions of the company.

Duties / Responsibilities

  1. Processing payments, invoices, income and receipts and entering data into accounting software (Sage) or databases then filing electronic/hard copies
  2. Preparation of monthly payroll and expenses data for processing by third party, input data to accounting software (Sage).
  3. Preparation of monthly management accounts, including cash flow, profit and loss and balance sheets.
  4. Track and reconcile bank account transactions and balances.
  5. Preparation of all returns to HM Customs and Revenue (including VAT, PAYE, P11D and Corporation Tax), Contribution Agencies or other public or statutory bodies.
  6. Make payments to suppliers and statutory bodies as directed by a Director.
  7. Verify the accuracy of business accounts and alert Directors and Accountant of errors.
  8. Record any inconsistencies to help the Accountants reconcile inaccuracies
  9. Assist the Accountant with administrative duties and preparing yearly accounts.
  10. Dealing with all day-to-day communications, statement requests, remittance advice and transactions with all business suppliers.
  11. To liaise with other staff in order to stagger lunch breaks to provide cover for “front of house” duties between 12-2pm whenever reasonably practical.
  12. To undertake General Administration duties either alone or with others as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the business.
  13. Changes of duties will be discussed with the post holder before implementation.

General Administrative duties

  • Collating, photocopying and binding of reports etc.
  • Answering the telephone to external callers
  • Greeting visitors, signing them in, preparing beverages for visitors / meetings
  • Preparing meeting spaces
  • Scanning / copying / printing documents or drawings

Required Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Flexible, proactive and self-starter in approach to work.
  • Excellent knowledge of general accounting

  • Strong administrative and workload management skills.

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to be able to deal with a multitude of tasks and a range of priorities.
  • Able to prepare, review and understand a financial statement.

Required Abilities

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Literate and numerate.

Experience

  • At least two years bookkeeping experience, preferably within a business-services environment.
  • Experience with accounting software such as Sage

Qualifications

  • Essential - 5 GCSEs or equivalent. Passes in Maths and English at grade C or above.
  • Desirable - Accountancy qualification and/or business administration qualification
